The NAE Open is an annual group exhibition that brings together up to 50 artists, creating a vibrant snapshot of contemporary practice. Open to all artforms, the exhibition welcomes applications from UK-based artists who identify as being from the Global Ethnic Majority*, as well as from all artists living in Nottinghamshire. A key aim of the NAE Open is to platform and raise the profile of the selected artists, offering not only the opportunity to present their work in a major public exhibition but also access to professional development, networking, and increased visibility within the arts sector.

The exhibition will take place in NAE’s Main Gallery from May–September 2026 and will be selected anonymously by a panel of respected artists, creative professionals, and community representatives.

Selected artists will gain the chance to exhibit in one of the UK’s leading contemporary art spaces and will also be considered for prizes awarded by NAE and partners, including solo exhibitions, residencies, and other profile-raising and developmental opportunities. Participants will be further supported through three key events: the exhibition launch, a dedicated professional development day, and the awards ceremony.
