Stryx invites applications for The Mothership Residency, a fully funded residency for mother artists and creatives who are primary caregivers to children aged 0–5 (pre-school age). This residency supports early- and mid-career mother creatives from any discipline who are ready to re-engage with their practice in a supportive, child-inclusive environment. The programme is specifically designed for those without access to dedicated studio space or childcare. We particularly encourage applications from underrepresented and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The Mothership Residency recognises the challenges of balancing caregiving and creative work. It offers time, space and integrated on-site childcare, allowing artists to focus on their practice while remaining close to their children. What’s included: • 3-month studio residency for mother-artist (March–May 2026) at Stryx Jewellery Quarter • Full-time studio access • 12 hours of on-site childcare per week (over 3 days, 10am–2pm) • £500 production micro-bursary • Final group exhibition (June–September 2026) • Access to Stryx crits, meetings and family programmes Eligibility: Applicants must be based in Birmingham or surrounding areas and be a mother or primary caregiver to a child aged 0–5. Deadline: 24 February 2026, midnight
